Performance Calculator: Examples of
Highly Modified 1/4 mile Figures
In this addition we thought it would be of interest to look at how the
LetsTorqueBHP.com performance calculator and its formulas can predict the
fastest of road legal tuned cars. To keep available data simple, we need to
bear in mind factors such as torque, gearing, aerodynamics, weight
distribution etc are not used, so our times can only be within a few tenths
of what is possible. When the highest of bhp per ton figures are used our
calculations assume the car has road legal slicks/drag tyres and careful
suspension set-up to get this power down. Of course you can use it to
predict any car, standard or any state of tune... |

The Ford Focus ST
The new 217bhp Ford Focus ST is due on sale
this year. Nicked named the new XR3i by some purists, but branded under the
new ST range, the car will be the latest generation of performance Focus to
be considered in the highly competitive world of the hot hatch. Weighing
1323kg we predict the car to have a theoretical 0-60 time of 6.53secs and on
to 100mph in pretty quick 16.47secs. On the road the 1/4mile theory time
could be 14.92secs at 95.15mph, and take this to a drag strip and this could
be slightly quicker at 14.72secs at 96.81mph... |

Mitsubishi Evo VIII MR340
The Mitsubishi Evo models all evolved over the years, the very latest
incarnation is the Evo VIII FQ340 MR. This family sized saloon with its 2.0
litre turbo charged engine can keep up with the likes of the supercars, yet
is affordable and ultimately a thrill a minute of a ride, once the right
foot has been planted on the "Go" pedal. As close as you're going to get to
the full-blown world rally spec edition being used throughout the WRC this
year. |
